NICC Membership

NICC is a non-profit artists initiative run by and for artists, it is founded by professional visual artists in order to advocate their rights. Our aim is to set up a qualitative social framework within which the autonomous artistic practice can develop professionally.

NICC functions as a mediator between the artists and the government, art organizations, and other actors in the cultural field. In addition to a program of social actions, reflection, and research, the NICC presents an artistic program of lectures, exhibitions, symposiums, and presentations on contemporary professional practice.

EN Taking the shape of a local visitor’s programme, Komplot and NICC aim to facilitate a public weekend of encounters, exchange and dialogue while visiting some of the inspiring grassroots initiatives and collective studios in the neighbourhood, where both collectives (NICC - artistic, Komplot - curatorial), have been creating an active program for years.

Last spring, during Art Brussels, Komplot and GlasgowStudios developed a trajectory that encompassed seven artist-run initiatives, off-spaces or collective studios in Anderlecht. The goal of the programme was to gather the non-commercial art scene in Anderlecht within a festive and energetic happening, in which each place organised an event for this occasion.

This time, NICC and Komplot have joined forces to continue this mission on the occasion of Brussels Gallery Weekend, initiating a second trajectory that will focus more on the collective discourse around off-spaces, organisations and the daily work of artists.
