NICC is a non-profit artists initiative run by and for artists, it is founded by professional visual artists in order to advocate their rights. Our aim is to set up a qualitative social framework within which the autonomous artistic practice can develop professionally.

NICC functions as a mediator between the artists and the government, art organizations, and other actors in the cultural field. NL Documenta Talk

“Documenta is moving the iceberg.”

"Documenta is moving the iceberg."

"What is the position of artists in the world, what is the position of art in the world?"

These are certainly statements befitting the fifteenth edition of documenta. There, a radically different side of the art world was shown. Documenta this year put Western artists aside for artists and collectives from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Oceania. The exhibition was curated by an Indonesian artist collective ruangrupa that directly applied the statement "Make friends, not art", focusing on social practices.

NICC is organising a talk on this subject, where the debate is open to anyone who wants to share their views on the exhibition. The talk will take place at the NICC space, Lambert Crickxstraat 1 in Anderlecht on 23 October at 2pm.

Should you be interested please register soon as places are limited.

You can register via anyuta@nicc.be with the subject 'Documenta Talk'.
