NICC Membership

NICC is a non-profit artists initiative run by and for artists, it is founded by professional visual artists in order to advocate their rights. Our aim is to set up a qualitative social framework within which the autonomous artistic practice can develop professionally.

NICC functions as a mediator between the artists and the government, art organizations, and other actors in the cultural field. In addition to a program of social actions, reflection, and research, the NICC presents an artistic program of lectures, exhibitions, symposiums, and presentations on contemporary professional practice.

Loont Passie lezing

NL Loont Passie? 

Loont Passie en Loont Passie 2 zijn een tweedelig onderzoek naar de socio-economische positie van professionele kunstenaars in Vlaanderen. Binnen dit onderzoek werden meer dan 2.700 kunstenaars bevraagd. Misschien ben jij een van de kunstenaars die heeft deelgenomen? 

Nu de resultaten gepubliceerd zijn, nodigt NICC één van de betrokken onderzoekers — Jessy Siongers — graag uit om de bevindingen toe te lichten, met bijzondere focus op de situatie van de beeldende kunstenaars. 

 

De mogelijke besproken onderwerpen kunnen gaan over:

  • Socio-demografisch profiel 

  • Activiteiten, vergoedingen en tijdsbesteding 

  • Inkomen en statuten 

  • Beroepskosten 

  • Arbeidstevredenheid en de combinatie arbeid gezin

  • overweging om te stoppen als kunstenaar 

  • Ondersteuning, lidmaatschap en advies kanalen

EN Does Passion Pay Off?

Loont Passie and Loont Passie 2 is a two-fold study on the socio-economic position of professional artists in Flanders. Within this research, more than 2,700 artists were interviewed. Maybe you are one of those artists who participated? 

As the research results have been published now, NICC would like to invite one of the involved scientists — Jessy Siongers — to present the study with particular attention to the situation of the visual artists. 

The possible topics may include:

  • Socio-demographic profile

  • Activities, allowances and time allocation

  • Income and status

  • Professional expenses

  • Job satisfaction and work-family combination

  • Consideration of quitting as an artist

  • Support, membership and advice channels
